Business Work from Home – Reduce Overheads

Small business entrepreneurs need to be cost effective to cut down as many overheads costs as possible. Allowing employees to work from home is a good option for trimming costs. With the internet and telecommuting being a rage in recent times, this option is viable.

Many employees and employers find the option of working from home an ideal option which works very well professionally and personally. According to Citrix Online's Worldwide Workplace survey 73 percent of the U.S. workforce wants to telecommute and 53 percent of small business owners want to as well.

If you are in a business where you can organize a web based platform for your employees to work remotely, it will save commuting time and also cut costs.

  • Work timings, employees work schedule and logistics are the details that you as an employer need to look into thoroughly.
  • A good personnel management system should be in place.
  • Entrepreneur magazine reports that Concentric Sky, a Web development firm in Eugene, Ore., has reduced its facilities costs by having about a third of the 30-person staff telecommute.
  • Working from home requires a good monitoring system, where the progress of work can be easily captured.
  • A detailed check of the systems the employee would use for work needs to be done. It is important that the employee has all the tools he requires to work from home. So an easy system setup needs to be thought of. This makes it beneficial for the employer as well as the employee.
