Kevin Gilger – Actor

You may not think of an Actor as a typical entrepreneur, but Kevin Gilger is about to prove you wrong. With a career as an impersonator of the TV personality “Dog the Bounty Hunter,” Gilger (born a red-haired Irishman, by his own admission) dyed his hair blonde to do a bodybuilding competition. When the people around him began to mistake him for Duane “Dog” Chapman, he realized he had a unique business opportunity.

“I did a little hair work,” Gilger says, and once he put his picture up in LA Casting, “The rest is history.” He has now appeared with such notable performers as Mickey Rooney, a summer release called “Bamboo Shark: The Movie,” and can reel off shows and commercials including car commercials and comedy central gigs. In addition, he has appeared at corporate events as an impersonator for over three years.

This isn’t Gilger’s first foray into show business – earlier in his life, he worked with the original Flipper. But it’s his appearance – similar to Chapman’s - that drove his late-in-life return. As both an actor and impersonator, Gilger’s approach to impersonation is more layered than those who approach the craft of impersonation from an external perspective, only.

“People refuse to believe that I’m not him.”

Gilger takes advantage of social media, and markets himself via easily-findable Google results. He recommends searching either his name or else the phrase, “Dog the Bounty Hunter Impersonator” to find him. He has appeared with some of the world’s best celebrity impersonators, and maintains that it is “A lot of fun.”

Having met the man he impersonates and performs as, Gilger has nothing but positive things about his subject. Dog asked for a swab of DNA, Gilger says – the greatest compliment one can get in his business. His relationship with Chapman is positive.
