Let Customers Go without Ruining Your Reputation

Showing a customer to the door is not an activity that you come across every day. Your business will have many customers. It is true that some of them are unnecessary to the growth of the business. Therefore, it is better to screen the customer database. However, the task should be done with utmost caution as it requires a skillful handling of people and their ego.

In a business, a small portion of the customers will account for the sales of the larger portion. The portion responsible for the sales should be well maintained while the rest of the customers can be analyzed. Potentials and prospects can be ascertained. Finally, the portion which does not contribute to the business can be screened out in an amicable way.

While focusing on the profitable customers, you need to find out what prevents the rest from contributing to the sales. If there are any issues to be resolved, handle it without further delay. There are customers who bring a negative impact on your business. These customers need to be screened out. Instead of being defensive with them, go with the flow and try to show them out. Remember, a customer who is not handled well is likely to bring a bad reputation by spreading a bad message to other clients.

Take the blame for bad relationships with the customers. If they do not fit into a profitable customer list, direct them towards other businesses which might appeal to them. Instead of finding faults with the customer, try to find out why the relationship was not in the correct sync.
