Turn Your Hobby Into a Business

An interesting hobby and a burning passion can sometimes lead to a startup of an exciting and lucrative business. Many women who are not too keen on working in a corporate environment and require flexible work timings see this as a good opportunity to use their talent and hobby into a money making venture.

One such creative person is Krystle Walsh. Her passion for beads and creative instinct led her to open her online stores to sell her beadwork, jewellery and other handcrafted items. She started to sell her stuff online auction marketplace.

It is extremely important to love what you are doing if you are looking at it as a long time venture. Some of the key factors that help you grow are

  • Making a mark - Think of simple and effective processes to market your product across different channels.
  • Find your support system - Use your resources such as family and friends for all the help you need.
  • Keep the fire burning – It is important to keep yourself updated about your area of work so that you can come up with new ideas and designs.

Krystle says “Don’t give up. It takes time to be found. To build a client base. If you make mistakes, learn and don’t be discouraged. Slowly invest and let it grow. And do something you enjoy! If you hate doing it odds are you won’t do it for the long haul.”
